International university degree at Master level: “Mastering the TV formats of tomorrow"

Since 2020, the Cannes City Council, Université Côte d'Azur and Banijay have been offering a three-week intensive content writing residency entitled "Content Creatives Incubator", which is designed to attract and train talent in audiovisual program design. In view of its success, the Cannes City Council, the Cannes Lérins Agglomeration, the Université Côte d'Azur and Banijay are strengthening this collaboration and launching the university diploma "Mastering the TV formats of tomorrow: creation and development" at the Georges Méliès Campus, located in Cannes la Bocca.

This unique course in France, run by the University of Côte d'Azur's Arts and Humanities research school, aims to train French and international students in new and original television formats. It is a response to the shortage of talent encountered by professionals in the sector.

This one-year bilingual program with an international dimension will be made up of academic courses (creativity, project management, marketing, legal skills, etc.) taught by research professors from the Université Côte d'Azur and practical courses (knowledge of the global audiovisual market and formats, ability to respond to a creative brief, pitching skills, trailer production, etc.), supervised by Banijay professionals. It will be regularly punctuated by masterclasses, themed workshops and periods of immersion in Cannes' leading events (MIPCOM, MIPTV, CANNESERIES) in order to develop the students' creativity and skills.

In partnership with the Agglomération Cannes Lérins, the students will be able to benefit from the technical equipment available at the Campus Georges Méliès to produce pilots or trailers. They will thus have all the necessary assets for the design, development and marketing of flow programs to broadcasters.

For this first year, the Master's level university diploma will run from January to June 2023 and will accommodate 15 students. In future years, it will be held from October to June. This hybrid and professionalizing training will be accessible from a level of studies Bac+4 (M1 in cultural and creative industries or professional experience in creativity or production of formats). Candidates will also have to prove that they have completed relevant internships or personal productions, and that they have mastered the subjects of creativity, project management and writing, as well as a level of French and English respectively B1 and B2. An oral interview will follow a pre-selection of the applications received (applications open from 20 October 2022).

Registration is open from 18 October 2022 to 9 January 2023 at the following address : https://creates.univ-cotedazur.fr/actualites/diplome-formats-tv
